China’s iron ore imports may slow down next year

Both domestic steel output and iron ore import volumes may slow down next year due to Beijing’s persistent restrictions on the real estate market. China’s crude steel output is expected to rise by 5.8 percent to 728 million tons and consumption by 4.6 percent to 685 million tons in 2012. The growth of iron ore imports would slow to 6 percent from this year’s 10 percent.
